Munich Dining Club

About Us

Munich Dining Club How much does a dinner cost and how is the club funded?

Our aim is to go to some of the best restaurants in Munich. However, we don't want the price of the dinners to be beyond anyone's means so we usually keep to reasonably priced places. A dinner party will typically cost you somewhere between €20 and €40 depending on the restaurant, depending on what you order, and depending on how much you drink. At the end of the dinner the bill is split so that each guest pays only for what he or she ordered.

The club is funded through what we call a "club cover charge". For some dinner parties, but not all, we take a €6 cover charge for attendance at the dinner. The payment is taken in advance by credit card via this website. Not all dinners have a cover charge. If you're feeling poor then you can attend one of the "free" dinners. But once you've been to at least one dinner then you'll realise that the cover charge is a very small and reasonable price to pay. The cover charge pays for this website, for advertising, and for miscellaneous costs and time involved in organising the dinner parties themselves.

Are the dinner parties suitable for Vegetarians?

At every dinner you choose your dishes from the restaurant's regular menu. So provided the restaurant has vegetarian dishes then you can order those. Most of the restaurants we visit do serve vegetarian dishes. When a dinner party is announced it will usually be made clear whether the restaurant is Vegetarian friendly or not. Most are.

Are you a dating agency?

Nope! Absolutely not! Most of the members do happen to be single, but we think this is simply because singles tend to be more sociable and willing to meet new people than do couples. Singles and non-singles alike are welcome.

Why are the dinner parties only for members aged 20 to 35 years?

Most people prefer to meet and hang out with other people of a similar age to themselves. The club was started by a group in their late 20's, so this continues to be the average age of the members. If you're reading this and are older than 35 then this age restriction may seem unfair. Perhaps it is. But the general consensus of the members is that there should be an age limit. Sorry.

What nationalities are the members?

The dining club welcomes all nationalities of Expats in Munich. This includes, but is not restricted to, the following: English, Americans, Australians (Aussies), New Zealanders (Kiwis), Canadians, British, Scottish (Scots), Irish, Welsh, and South Africans. We also have a small number of Scandanavians, Indians, and one or two other nationalities as well. The main thing is that you should be an English speaker to native standard.

If I attend a dinner on two separate occasions will I meet new people or the same people at both?

Every time you come to a dinner you will undoubtedly meet new people! We have over 200 members and there are a maximum of 12 people in attendance at any one dinner so this means that nearly every dinner has a different mix of people. And besides, we also give priority to newcomers.

Does the club have a privacy statement?

Yes we do. Your personal details and e-mail address are not given or sold to any third parties. We can absolutely guarantee that we'll not send you any spam e-mail. Nor will your e-mail address be made available to spam e-mailers. The only e-mails you will receive as a result of joining the club will be the information about each dinner party. These e-mails will be sent at a maximum frequency of one every two weeks. Personal information is not even shared amongst members. You may cancel your membership at anytime (via the member's page) and your e-mail address will be removed from the mailing list.
